Hey all. I’ve been rather quiet lately, but it’s been for a good cause. Aaron and I are working on a long-form story, and I’ve (temporarily?) abandoned my solo work to give it my full comics-guy attention.
We’re still in the early stages, but I’m very excited about the way it’s shaping up. It is awesome to be working with such a talented artist. When I write for myself, I’m often worried about whether or not I can pull off the art from one panel to the next. I constantly have to make concessions like skipping a crowd scenes, or limiting myself to awkward close-up shots to avoid having to draw too much funny-looking backgrounds. I don’t have to worry about these things when I’m writing for someone who knows what they’re doing!
I don’t want to spill too many beans about the story, but I will say that it’s a period piece set in the late 1800′s in a small mining town in the North American west. Thematic elements include: hard-rock mining, vegetable farming, and the finer points of commercial baking on a cast iron stove. Also: UNDERGROUND MONSTERS! Rawrrr!
